Running your own business can be a very rewarding
experience, you are your own boss, and are in control. However,
as you are in charge, its success relies on you and it is a
long term commitment. Your decisions will effect whether the
business is a failure or a success.
Running a business is hard work and is certainly not something
to be taken lightly, it is not an ‘easy way out’ of
being unemployed or getting out of a job you don’t
like. Its also not a way of making a ‘fast buck’.
You will need to put in hard work to set a business up,
including doing research, writing a business plan and looking
for finance. Contrary to popular belief, there are no magic
grants which people are going to just give you on a plate.
But, if you have a really good idea and a really good business
plan, raising finance should not be too much of a problem.
Taking out a low cost loan from an enterprise
agency is the way many people have financed their business
to start up,
a loan is not a problem as long as you have done the research
to show there is sufficient business out there for you to
afford the repayments.
*One of the most common reasons for business failures is
the lack of research. People assume their idea or product
will work and don’t ask potential customers what they
think- research is vital!!
The good news is there is lots of help available
with starting a business, to make sure you get the best
possible start……
