Area Communication and Education Worker Dave Gaston has been working with Project North East to give the local residents in his community centre the chance to learn new skills and develop their business skills.

9 residents are currently on the enterprise course which aims to leave them with enough business knowledge and understanding to run their community café, ‘T Junction’ as a business themselves.

So far, Dave has had very positive feedback from the participants.

“Feedback wise it is one of the best courses I’ve seen run at the centre. They love the fact that they are being taught in plain English with no jargon. I think the main thing has been that they have all been surprised by the business skills they already had but were unaware of. It’s about recognising the skills they’ve got, learning new ones and gaining confidence so that they can exercise those skills.”
